FEAR GOD

BY

Laura Christian

The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom
How dare you oh man to lean on his mercy
Without giving a dime of purity and worship.

The devils believe and tremble with fear
Do you believe also, but don't really hear?
When bogged with sin do not shed a tear?
Or away from sin your evil course to steer?

Away with you!
He may someday say.
Alas, to your own heart's dismay

Didn't I love Him, didn't I care
Enough His Righteousness to wear?

Turn from evil, erring soul, put away all filth and guile
Live with Him in goodness sweet, seek to enter heaven's gate

Lift your brother up from sin let a shivering stranger in
Leave your selfish wants behind then your own soul you will find.

Seek to live in endless day, where perfect love has it's perfect way
This is the purpose for which you were born to dance in His love from morn to morn

Happiness is his to keep and also yours when you will reap
What and how much you have given if they be the gifts of heaven.

Amen
